Power management company Eaton today announced its Vehicle Group has introduced a new zero-leak Compact Combo Valve that safely vents harmful evaporative fuel vapors in the tank by stacking a Fill Limit Vent Valve (FLVV) and a new Zero-Leak Grade Vent Valve (GVV). A key benefit of the Compact Combo is reduced fuel vapor permeation. The smaller footprint of the stacked valves allows for a tighter seal when welded to the tank, in turn reducing permeation. This innovative configuration reduces the product’s footprint by 20 mm, which decreases potential leak paths and allows fuel tank manufacturers more design flexibility. The Zero-Leak GVV also fulfills all government-mandated requirements for zero-leak vapor valves. “Eaton's world-class engineering teams are leading the way in developing innovative and highly efficient fuel vapor management products,” said Brian Contat, business unit director, Fuel Emissions, Eaton’s Vehicle Group. “As evaporative emissions reduction and vehicle standards become more stringent, Eaton’s fuel emissions products deliver a competitive advantage worldwide that helps our customers achieve or exceed upcoming emissions regulations.”

Power management company Eaton today announced its Vehicle Group has introduced two new concentric pneumatic clutch actuators (CPCAs), designed for commercial vehicle push-type diaphragm spring clutches. The CPCAs help optimize vehicle performance by working with a vehicle’s automated manual transmission (AMT) to continuously determine the ideal release position and clutch actuation when the transmission shifts. The CPCAs serve as an aftermarket replacement for the clutch actuator used in the Detroit Diesel DT12®, the Volvo I-Shift and Mack mDRIVETM automated manual transmissions. With many AMT-equipped trucks on the road no longer under factory warranty, service providers need reliable parts to complete repairs and maintenance. Replacing the CPCA during clutch service can help save repair time and cost while reducing downtime for unscheduled maintenance. With the addition of the CPCAs, Eaton now offers a complete line of aftermarket clutch products, enabling customers to purchase an Eaton Advantage automated clutch and replacement CPCA, and to calibrate the system with Eaton’s ServiceRanger4™ Pro Plus software.

Power management company Eaton today announced a complete suite of solutions from its Vehicle Group to reduce vapor emissions produced during the refueling of gas-powered vehicles. Reducing fuel vapor emissions minimizes the impact vehicles have on the environment and contributes to Eaton’s mission of creating a more sustainable future for all. Industry data reveals that significant amounts of hydrocarbons are commonly forced out through the filler neck and released into the atmosphere while a gas-powered vehicle is being refueled. This leakage occurs in all gas-powered vehicles, including passenger cars and an increasing number of small- and mid-sized commercial vehicles. This problem is even more pronounced in hybrid-electric vehicles, which require special measures to address evaporative emissions as the gas engine only operates intermittently, creating the need to store pressurized fuel vapor.

Power management company Eaton today announced the launch of its GFX machine dynamics sensor, a two-in-one device combining the functionality of a global positioning system (GPS) and an inertial measurement unit (IMU) in one compact package. With the ability to monitor machine location, speed, acceleration, direction, tilt, pitch and roll, the GFX device can help keep operators and their machinery safe and productive. The GFX device monitors machine dynamics data that can be used to help maintain safe vehicle operation and maximize efficiency. For example, the acceleration, angular rate and magnetic field data can help avoid rollover accidents on uneven terrain, while true ground speed data and geopositioning can help optimize operations such as seeding, harvesting and earthmoving.

Power management company Eaton today introduced new “wet kit” packages for end-dump applications supporting the Bezares line of Power Takeoff (PTO) units that fit popular Eaton Fuller® and Eaton Cummins Endurant™ transmissions. Bezares SA is a global manufacturer of PTOs, hydraulic pumps, fittings, tanks, valves and other related mobile power hydraulic components. The wet kits simplify ordering by including all the components needed into a single part number. Wet kits are installed on medium- and heavy-duty trucks with accessories such as booms and cranes that need hydraulic pumps to operate. The wet kit’s hydraulic pump is activated by the truck's transmission.

Power management company Eaton today introduced InfiniTrac, an electronically controlled, hydraulically actuated, variable-bias limited-slip differential that delivers optimized vehicle performance at any speed and traction condition. Eaton’s InfiniTrac provides a wide range of functionality for passenger vehicles. It operates as an open differential until needed, and then applies the necessary torque to respond to varying speeds and changing road conditions. Unlike most competing differentials, InfiniTrac does not require a dedicated electronic control unit, as it is able to use one of a vehicle’s existing electronic control units to reduce costs. InfiniTrac is capable of packaging in beam and independent rear suspension (IRS) axles without a special carrier for most current production applications. With options for both front and rear axles, it provides enhanced vehicle dynamics and is compatible with active chassis systems, such as anti-lock braking systems or stability control.
